The kids are back to school and we’re getting back to routine. There’s no reason to rush and try to fit everything in. With the cooler fall weather, there are festivals and escapes to discover in Calgary, during these weekend activities with the kids.

Chinatown Festival | 2nd Street and Riverfront Ave
This fun, family friendly event will feature the familiar sights and sounds of many cultural performances, exciting kids play zone, as well as merchants and food tents; there will certainly be something suitable for everyone.
When: Sunday, 10-6

Island Escape | St. Patrick’s Island
We’ve got your long weekends covered! All without leaving the city. Bring the whole family down to St. Patrick’s Island for a fun-filled island staycation. Get your beach boogie on with music from BassBus. Food trucks will have the beach snacks, and EAST Crew will be on site with classic summer games and activities. 12pm-4pm at Trout Beach

Cornucopia at Cobb’s | Cobb’s Corn Maze
Corn on the cob, corn fritters, corn bread, corn crafts and more. The weekend is all about corn, in addition to the fun family events and activities that you can take part in on your visit to Cobb’s Corn maze.

Hometown Festival | Bass Pro Shops
Celebrate Labour Day weekend at Bass Pro Shops with a Hometown style festival! Families are invited to enjoy FREE samples, FREE games, FREE crafts, and FREE giveaways over the weekend located throughout the store. Free hot dogs, and free kids activities daily at the store between 12-5.

Make Crayons at Telus Spark | Telus Spark
Using leftover crayons and oil pastels, your kids will melt them down and make our own new colours and interestingly shaped crayons. Young kids can practice safely using real tools and see what happens when you make something new from something old.
