It’s officially half way through the summer and we’ve got you covered when it comes to filling up your schedule with fun, family-friendly activities in Calgary.
Here’s what to do in Calgary this weekend, with kids:
Marsh Dipping at Bow Habitat Station
Investigate what lies beyond the cattails of the marshes! Armed with nets and buckets, prepare to get a bit muddy as we search for and identify the critters who make their home in our wetlands. This programmer-led activity is a great opportunity to dive deeper and learn about the often-missed critters who make their home in our wetlands.
Last Call $3 Swim at Village Leisure Centre
There’s a new reason to stay up late! Get $3 off of your admission with last call at Village Square Leisure Centre on Friday nights. If you show up to swim between 9:00 and 10:00 pm, you’ll get $3 off of your admission costs.
Explore Open Studio at Telus Spark
Open Studio is where you can take creative risks, question assumptions and explore new ways of thinking by building and combining unexpected materials. At Open Studio, you can: digitally paint with light, create the ultimate outfit using recycled materials, compose a musical symphony with colour.
Explore Historic Calgary Week (All Weekend)
Oh, the Fun we Had! and the rich history, culture, and community of Calgary and area. With over 100 events, this will be the largest, most fun-filled Historic Calgary Week ever. Enjoy walks, talks, concerts, sports, dancing, cinema and explore museums, heritage buildings, cemeteries, parks and libraries during Historic Calgary Week. All events are open to the public and most are free of charge.
Hit up the Outdoor Pool
Hit up and outdoor pool and take advantage of the summer sun. It’s your chance to explore one of Calgary’s outdoor pools this summer.
Open Aircraft Days at The Hangar Museum
The number 1 wish we hear from our visitors is that they would like to sit inside one of our historical aircraft. We listened, and now’s your chance! From June 24-September 24 we’ll have Open Aircraft Days on Saturdays and Sundays at 11am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. We’ll also have knowledgeable staff and volunteers available to answer your questions. Trust us, you’re going to want to purchase a Museum membership so that you can come back for each plane!
Visit the Calgary Fringe Festival
There’s comedy, drama, improv, dance, music, magic and more. Intricate ensemble casts, dynamic duos and breathless solo performances. Quirky romps, fantasy masterpieces, moving vignettes and dark real-life tales. A mix of young emerging artists alongside seasoned pros. With nine days, 28 outstanding shows, multiple venues, a free late night cabaret and the great Inglewood community to explore, there’s a lot love about this year’s Calgary Fringe.
Landmark Cinemas Kids Day
Every Sunday, kids can get out of the house and score a movie ticket and Snack Pack (popcorn, drink, choice of candy treat) for one great, low price. Every movie, every Sunday. Landmark Cinemas’ Kid’s Day – turn the average Sunday into a movie-filled Funday. Check your favourite Landmark Cinemas for showtimes.
