Thrill of the Catch

Discover the thrill of fishing! Each day kids visit a new lake or pond around the city or in Kananaskis Country in their quest to catch a fish. Kids get a chance to learn about fishing techniques, the best places to find fish, how to identify species of fish, and they also learn about wildlife and the outdoors. Some fishing holes can only be found by hiking to them, so kids should be ready for a fun fishing adventure! Please note: fishing rods are not supplied.

First Aid and Survival in the Great Outdoors

Learn how to save lives – maybe even your own! This camp will teach you essential life support and outdoor survival skills. Learn the basics of CPR and first aid, including how to recognize and treat emergencies such as cardiac arrest, stroke and choking, and first aid skills that help in the control of bleeding and shock management. Learn navigation skills and how to set up a shelter like a pro!

Under the Big Top Circus Camp

Beginners to advanced athletes will train on a number of circus events: tissu, lira, trapeze, cyr wheel, globes, teeterboard, Chinese Pole, trampolines and various circus props.  Participants will be divided into small groups based on age and athletic ability.  In addition to learning a variety of skills, participants will be coached in stage presentation, make-up and performance techniques.  The week will culminate with a ‘Cirque-style’ performance open to the public.

Junior Zookeeper Camp

This camp gives your child access to educators, zookeepers and animal health staff as they get their hands (and boots) dirty. We’ll also connect them with conservation field biologists as we set up our own research study while collecting data through our motion sensor cameras for wildlife monitoring. These junior zookeepers will find out if they have what it takes to be a zookeeper.

Red Hot Robots

Our awesome Mad Science Robot Camp returns with new robot builds and activities.  Campers will build two different super cool robots, that they keep and take home, for hours of endless fun!  The T4 Solar Transforming Robot is way cool, using rays from the sun to generate it’s power.  This robots transforms into 4 different modes:  Classic Robot, T-Rex Bot, Rhino Beetle Bot and Drill Vehicle Bot.  Our second build project is an Air-Powered Racer Bot that uses air pressure to propel itself forward at incredible speed.  Completed Air Racer Bots will then compete in the Air-Power- Racer Grand Prix.  Campers will also learn about Electricity, Structures, Alternative Power Sources and more!

Ghost River Discovery (Sleepaway Camp)

This 5 day, 4 night adventure is an opportunity to experience the outdoors in a culturally enriched and safe environment. Days are filled with exciting and engaging games, traditional crafts, connection to the land, survival skills, and cultural ceremonies based on Indigenous traditions and beliefs. Surrounded by vast mountains, open skies and colourful plants, participants develop new bonds between themselves, between each other and with the natural world as they are embraced within the circle of Rediscovery.  This camp may include spirit spots, opportunity to participate in a smudge and sweat ceremonies and a group overnight under tarps. Tour de Calgary 

It’s like the Tour de France for kids, but way more fun – and in Calgary! Kids spend the day biking along Calgary’s extensive pathways, visiting kid-friendly places around the city, swimming, and playing games. Grades 2-3 cycle up to 10 km some days and grades 4-8 cycle up to 15 km some days. This will depend on ability of the group. Although campers will burn a lot of energy and sleep well each night, these distances are very achievable for campers!

Go Cart Racers 

Work in a pit crew to design, assemble, paint and race your own push go-cart! When not building in the shop, each “mechanic” gains an introduction to the worlds of automotive and heavy equipment technology and what the future holds for the industry. Enjoy a combination of hands-on learning, physical exercise, teamwork and fun!
