You know how excited the kids get when they see planes in the sky? Take that to the next level and spend some time at the Edward H. LaBorde Viewing Area. It’s one of those magic places in childhood where you can pack a picnic, watch the planes take off into the sky and create memories that are going to last a childhood.

Just Northeast of Calgary’s airport, there is a viewing area with picnic tables, but you can always bring a blanket and have an an authentic picnic. Together, you can watch the planes take off, watch the planes land and imagine where they are going. You can talk about the destinations that you would like to visit, and craft imaginary stories – it’s all very, very exciting when you’re little.

With lots of space to run around, and picnic tables, with stroller friendly paths, it’s one of our favourite places to spend the morning.

Get directions to the viewing area, here.
