Halloween season is here and we couldn’t be more thrilled. We’ve got our pumpkins ready, our costumes picked out and our bellies ready to eat as much candy as we possibly can in twenty-four hours. Luckily, we live in a community with plenty of Halloween activities for kids. 

Here’s your guide to Halloween parties and events for kids, 2019. 

Halloweekends at Callaway Park | All month 

Join the Boo Crew at Calaway Park this Fall! Take a stroll through Hallotown… if you dare! It is a spooktacular good time for the whole family! Open Saturdays, Sundays and Holiday Monday from 11am to 6pm.

Field of Screams | October 4 – 31 

Suitable for all ages, Field of Screams features 5 nightmare-inducing haunted houses. There are also, rides, activities, food & drinks and much more! Check out the scary fun every Friday and Saturday night, suitable for children 5+. 

Airscares 2019 (Kids 10+) | October 17 – 31 

In October 2019, Airscares guests will find themselves caught in a trap set by a familiar mastermind. To escape, they’ll have to survive some of films’ most feared villains in BGCA’s ode to classic horror. Would you like to play a game?

Harvest Pumpkin Hunts at Butterfield Acres | October 19 Onward 

Off we go on the tractor-pulled hay wagon, rolling through the crunchy fall leaves just hoping to find some… kid-sized pumpkins! Once we find some, we’ll bring them back and decorate them into creative pumpkin-head masterpieces! While the glue sets up, everyone can have a visit with their favorite animal friends in the farmyard. Your visit includes hunting time, pumpkin decorating (no carving) and a farmyard visit with the animals!

Pumpkin Fest at Granary Road | October 19 Onward 

Pumpkin Fest at Granary Road is a celebration of pumpkins and their orange goodness. Enjoy the golden yellow countryside, fall breeze and fresh air, while carving extraordinary pumpkins for your front porch. October 19th and 20th, join us at Granary Road; Harvest Fun for the Whole Family.

Calgary Ghostbusters at the Library | October 19 

Bring your proton pack, trap a ghost, and try on a real uniform with The Calgary Ghostbusters! We will be there reading spooky stories and taking photos with Slimer and Stay Puft. Take home activities for all ages. We are pleased to partner with The Calgary Libraries for these one of a kind Halloween events for October!

Ghouls Night out at Heritage Park | October 24 – 27 

Ghouls’ Night Out at Heritage Park is perfect for families with little ghouls, aged three to nine, who are looking for a fun, safe night out.

Fort Calgary Barracks Boo-tacular | October 25 

Join us for some family-friendly Halloween fun! Bust out your costumes early for trick-or-treating and crafting in the museum. Kids will get their history-fix (and sugar-fix) from our interpreters as they practice their “Trick or Treat!” through the museum. They can also stop by the craft table in the Confluence Room to make the perfect Halloween-themed pumpkin pet to take home wit

Halloween Family Dance | October 26 

Bring your family for some Halloween fun and dancing! There will not be a concession at this dance but we will have treats and drinks available. $10 per family if you are community members and $15 per family for non-members. Single admittance not available at this dance.

Spooktacular Halloween Party | October 27

Join us for tons of festive activities including a costume contest, pumpkin carving, cupcake decorating, glitter tattoos, games, crafts and more! Just as our classes are designed for your child’s developmental age and stage, our party will include activities for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and big kids too! (for children 10 and under)This event is open to everyone, so invite your friends, and come out for a Spooktacular time!

Ghosts of Fish Creek Walk Tour | October 28 – 30 

Join us, if you dare!!!  You never know what you’re going to see!  Mwahahahahaaaaa! Tour the historic Bow Valley Ranch area of Fish Creek Provincial Park to learn about the ghosts that are rumored to haunt here!  Hot chocolate will be served to keep you warm and toasty (please remember to bring a travel mug).  And don’t forget to wear your scariest Hallowe’en costume (possibly with layers, as this is an outdoor program) and good walking shoes. Great for all ages (although it may be a bit scary for younger listeners).  This walk is also good for most levels of mobility; it is mainly on paved pathways, flat ground and less than a total of 1km. 

Get Scared at Triwood Haunted House | October 31 

Beware you are in for a scare. Enter at your own risk!!! Things from your worst nightmares lurk in this House of Terror!! This haunted house is not for the faint of heart. Be prepared to run into the night screaming from fright! If you prefer to travel without a scare we will have a child scare free section set up.

Head to Banff for a Halloween bonfire | October 31 

Join us for this annual family-friendly Halloween event, sponsored by the Banff Firefighters Association in partnership with the Town of Banff. Enjoy free hot dogs and hot chocolate by the bonfire and enjoy the pyrotechnics show. Don’t forget to wear your costumes!
