The Canmore winter carnival is a tradition twenty years strong. Close enough to Calgary to make for a weekend day trip, you can have the kids tucked into their own bed, and tuckered out, at the end of the day.

Take Part in the Lantern Parade 
Showcase your lantern and join the parade to kick off Winter Carnival. Begins on the plaza of Elevation Place and ends at the Three Sisters Gallery (2nd floor of Elevation Place) for the Opening Reception of the Kids’ Art Exhibition.

Ice Carving Competition 
The annual Ice Carving Competition will take place in front of the Canmore Civic Centre. Come down and watch these talented carvers as they transform blocks of ice into magnificent works of art.

BonHomme Carnival 
Enjoy an afternoon on the pond with ice skating, music, a snow castle, and maple sytrip snow taffy. You can also learn the sport of Curling or just bring your friends for a fun day of playing a popular Canadian Sport.

Family Day on the Pond
Events will include Pond Curling, White Mountain Adventures Giant Ski Races, Snowshoe Obstacle Course, Junkyard Dogsled and Kids Ice Carving.  Be sure to join us at the pond and bring your skates too!

Snowy Owl Kid n Mutt Races 
The Snowy Owl Sled dogs and kids races are back! Teams of two race against each other in this annual event which is not only fun to participate in but also to watch! Head to the Canmore Nordic Centre to take in the action as teams battle it out!
