The Calgary Maple Festival De Sucre is this year on March 5th and 6th between 10:30 and 4. It’s the perfect time to take advantage of this mild weather, get outside, and celebrate one of the most fantastic parts of winter – maple syrup.
Admission to the festival is $12 for adults, $8 for children – with some extras.
The many kids activities at the Calgary Maple Festival des Sucre, include:
Make Caban A Sucre
This delicious maple taffy is one of the reasons that you’re going to want to head to the festival. For $2/portion, you can roll up cooked maple syrup atop snow and taste that delicious, sweet treat.
Eat the Traditional Meal
Crepes and maple syrup, maple, ham, scrambled eggs, potatoes, back bacon and baked beans with maple pea soup is the traditional meal being offered at the festival. It’s suggested to purchase the meal ahead of time.
There’s a daily tug of war, boom blasters and big foots to entertain the kids (and adults) at the festival. There are lots of hands on activities for children to try, and to be entertained with. You’re not going to want to miss the labyrinth and hula hooping. Bubble balls and sumo suits are perfect for older kids searching for adventure.
There are fantastic face painting services available. For $5, kids can get face painting or temporary tattoos as part of the festival celebrations.
Don’t miss the ice carving by Yann Blanchard is a great way to get entertained and see something new. The kids are always enthralled with these carvings made of ice, and you’re going to be able to see carving in action as well as finished products.
